What to do

In case of an accident

Breathe. Nobody rents a car expecting this, but sorting it out is simpler than it seems — and the insurance has been with you since pickup.

Is anyone hurt? Call 911 now. In the United States 911 covers police, fire and ambulance. Then you talk to us: +1 (727) 543-1097

The five steps, in this order

1

Get everyone out of danger

If the car drives and you're on a busy road, pull onto the shoulder and put the hazards on. If it doesn't drive, get out of the vehicle and wait away from the lanes.

2

Call the police and ask for the report

Even on a small crash, even if the other driver wants to settle it there. In the United States the report is made by the officer, at the scene — it's called a police report.

That document is what supports the insurance claim. Without it, it becomes your word against theirs.

Never admit fault and don't sign anything from the other driver. Don't agree to a cash settlement at the scene. Your rental insurance covers collision regardless of who caused it — who determines fault is the police and the insurer.
3

Photograph everything before moving the car

  • The damage to our car, close up and from a distance
  • The other vehicle, with the plate visible
  • The whole scene: lane, traffic light, intersection
  • The other driver's license and insurance
  • The report number and the officer's name
4

Message AZ on WhatsApp right away

Talk to us before making any decision about the car. From there our team takes over: filing the claim, arranging a tow if needed and seeing how you continue your trip.

Send the photos and the report right there. The sooner they arrive, the faster it's sorted.

5

Don't authorize a tow, a shop or a repair on your own

A tow hired on your own, a shop picked on the spot, a quick fix so it “doesn't become a problem”: all of that usually costs a lot and complicates the insurance. We organize it.

The rule that matters more than all the others

Never admit fault

Don't say it was your fault, don't sign the other driver's statement, don't agree to a cash settlement at the scene and don't promise anything on AZ's behalf. Even if it seems obvious whose mistake it was: who decides that is the police report and the insurer, afterwards, calmly.

This isn't a trick: it's in the contract you signed — cooperate with the investigation and do not admit liability on behalf of AZ CAR RENTAL. One sentence said in the shock of the moment can void the protection and move the whole bill to you.

What to say, if they insist: “I'd rather wait for the police and the rental company”. That's all.

What this costs you

Up to the deductible, and no more than that

The insurance that already comes with your rental, the AZ GO, covers collision and theft regardless of fault, with a deductible of up to US$ 3,000. You pay the value of the damage and that at most — a US$ 400 mirror costs US$ 400. Above the deductible, it's on the insurance.

If you took the AZ ENJOY, the deductible is up to US$ 1,000. On the AZ PEACE OF MIND, it's zero — you pay nothing.

It wasn't an accident, it was a hassle

Flat tire, battery, a car that won't start

Message us on WhatsApp. If you're on AZ ENJOY or AZ PEACE OF MIND, 24h roadside assistance is included and we call it in for you. On AZ GO, we organize the help the same way and confirm the cost before anything.

Tires and windshield are not covered by AZ GO — they're covered by ENJOY (glass) and by PEACE OF MIND (tires and glass).

A small scratch you noticed at return

Tell us anyway. Every car goes out and comes back with a photographed inspection report, so it's better to talk before the check than after it.

Theft or robbery

Call 911 first, ask for the report and message us right after. Theft is covered by AZ GO, with the same deductible.
